JR East Nagano Niigata Area 5 Consecutive Days Pass holders can make free use of not only regular reserved seats on limited express trains (incl. shinkansen trains), express trains, and local trains (incl. kaisoku [rapid] trains) on JR East lines (incl. BRT), all Izu Kyuko Lines, all Tokyo Monorail lines, all Hokuetsu Express lines, and Echigo Tokimeki Railway lines (Naoetsu Station–Arai Station) but also regular reserved seats on various limited express trains, including Nikko, SPACIA Nikko, Kinugawa, and SPACIA Kinugawa that provide direct service between JR and Tobu lines.

How to make a seat reservation

Online reservation from this link or Visit a JR Ticket Office (Midori-no-madoguchi) or Travel Service Centre located in most major JR East stations, and present your JR East Pass to reserve a seat.

Unlimited travel on local, limited express and express trains including Shinkansen on the following rail company lines:
• JR EAST Lines
• Tokyo Monorail

• Hokuetsu Express
• Echigo TOKImeki Railway (between Naoetsu and Arai)
• Reserved seats in ordinary cars of the following express trains with through operations between JR East and Tobu Railway lines: Nikko, Kinugawa, and SPACIA Kinugawa trains.
• You can also use ordinary trains (including rapid trains) on the Tobu Railway lines between Shimo-imaichi and Tōbu-nikkō / Kinugawa-onsen.
• Between Kurihashi and Shimo-imaichi, you can only use express trains that have through operation with Tobu Railway.*
• JR buses in the area (exc. highway and some regular bus routes) *See bus map here
  
• The pass may be used for Tobu Railway Line as long as the departing or destination station is on a JR line
• The pass CANNOT be used for the Tokaido Shinkansen
• GALA Yuzawa Station is operated only in WINTER and SPRING season
*You cannot use express trains that both depart from and terminate at stations on Tobu Railway lines. You can only use the pass on Tobu Railway lines IF the train either departs from or terminates at a JR station.
